Welcome to the July 2025 Edition of SPS-IT & SPS-Facilities News. Many happenings around SPS-IT & SPS-Facilities and here is a brief overview of the topics this newsletter will cover this month.

SPS-IT & SPS-Facilities walk-in Service Desk will be closed on Thursday July 24, 2025 from 11am-12:30pm Central Time (1.5 hours for CAPS training).
Thursday July 24, 2025 – The SPS-IT & SPS-Facilities walk-in Service Desk will be closed on Thursday July 24, 2025 from 11am-12:30pm Central Time – (NU CAPS training) If there is an emergency need, feel free to contact us via email: sps-it@northwestern.edu AND/OR sps-facilities@northwestern.edu OR via phone 312.503-3333 and someone will respond to your request.
Northwestern WiFi (SSID: Eduroam) maintenance on Tuesday July 22, 2025. There will be no interruption to service during this scheduled security upgrade to the Northwestern WiFi network.
After the security upgrade is complete, all users will be prompted to accept a new security certificate before connecting into the NU WiFi. More information may be found => on Eduroam – NU’s WiFi
Jabber is the name of the application. To receive your office desk phone number on your smartphone.



Quick Tech Tips and Tricks | SPS Information Technology – In the SPS Faculty and SPS Staff Section, Under Software/Applications, Scroll down to Phone section – Select either iOS or Android.
EV Charging is available @ NU’s Huron/Superior (221 E. Superior) and Erie/Ontario (321 E. Erie) Parking Garages and in selected Evanston locations are found in the ChargePoint site: ChargePoint – Station Map. Search for: Northwestern University Evanston OR Northwestern University Chicago for specific location.



NU-Owned Electronics Recycling – Begins the Week of July 21, 2025. Safely recycle any NU-owned electronics by dropping them off in designated boxes. Eligible items include all NU-owned electronics such as monitors, keyboards, mice, docking stations, speakers, and/or power cords. Look for those labeled recycling boxes around NU buildings to deposit your discarded NU-owned electronic items.
