New 2026 DEMO models of the Lenovo laptops are on DISPLAY in Wieboldt 614 – The 2026 DEMO model Lenovo Laptops are on display for the SPS Community to view. Inside Wieboldt Hall 6th floor at the SPS-IT Service Desk, these are similar models as last year, X1 and T14. The new models has additional memory (RAM), Faster A.I.-Ready processors, and lighter weight. Feel free to stop by and checkout the new line as the DEMO units will be returned to Lenovo by September 30, 2025.
Paper Shredding at SPS – Chicago and Evanston – Paper shredding services will begin on Wednesday September 17, 2025, in the SPS Chicago and Evanston buildings (Abbott Hall, Wieboldt Hall, and 405 Church Street).
- To schedule a Pickup for Chicago OR Evanston: Email sps-facilities@northwestern.edu
- For Chicago buildings: Visit the SPS Walk-In Service Desk in Wieboldt Hall room 614 to obtain boxes for your shredding materials.
- For Evanston buildings: Request boxes at the 405 Church Street front desk.
All shredding pickups will be completed by end of day Friday, October 17, 2025.
– Microsoft to end Windows 10 operating system (OS) updates in October 2025. While Windows 10 will continue to function, devices running Windows 10 OS will no longer receive system updates from Microsoft. If you have not contacted SPS-IT to schedule an appointment to update your WIndows 10 operating system, feel free to do so by sending an email to: sps-it@northwestern.edu and someone will contact you to schedule an appointment. If you already have been contacted by someone within SPS-IT, no further action is required.
NU Parking Passes expire October 1, 2025 – A public service message from NU Parking Office for those staff who park monthly either on the Chicago Campus or on the Evanston Campus. New monthly permits will be issued directly from the Parking Office and additional information is found in the links below.
