Week of November 30 through December 8, 2015
Wieboldt Hall 6th floor update
The Marketing team has completed the move into 612 area. New carpeting, windows, window shades, heating vents, and new paint gives this space a nice fresh look. If you haven’t gotten a chance to take a look, stop by this renovated area. It is different than what you may remember. Here are some photos – to get the real breadth of the entire area, you gotta come see it in person.
105 W. Adams (16th floor) update … final photos.
These will be the last published photos from the LOOP location for SPS. It has been more than a decade since we moved into 105 W. Adams and November 30, 2015 was the last walk-through. Here are some eerie photos of that fateful day. The conference table is all that remains (too large to bring down the elevator, cost just the same to have movers move it as buying a new table, no space anywhere on campus to take)
November 25, 2015 – LOOP and Abbott Hall 3rd floor update
Now that all occupants of the LOOP facility has been relocated into Abbott Hall 3rd floor, we will be walking through the space (all 16,000+ sq ft) and returning keys to the landlord on Monday November 30, 2015- this will be our final walk through. (final photos to come…)
Abbott Hall occupants have been “fully” moved-in and electronics are functioning. Final fixtures and professional services (i.e. custodial, mail, and the like) has been notified that SPS has fully arrived. If you have any red moving bins; please unpack and return those bins back to the movers, please stack them in one place and we’ll have the movers take them away. A few worthy items to note:
- Abbott Hall 911 calls & emergency dispatch are still through 911; if there is an emergency, call 911
- Know your exit routes within the Abbott Hall building especially on the 3rd floor; as these are different than the LOOP facility – In any of our SPS buildings; know where the stairwells are located
- 3rd floor Large conference room, kitchen, & restrooms are shared with our NU colleagues from the Graduate School (also on the 3rd floor)
November 23, 2015 – Abbott 3rd floor & Wieboldt Hall 6th floor update
ABBOTT HALL 3rd floor update
Phase TWO of our LOOP evacuation is complete. All staff who were located in 105 W. Adams, is now located in Abbott Hall 3rd floor! Final walk-through for our 105 W. Adams space will take place Monday November 30, 2015 (feel free to join us in this nostalgic walk…not!)
A special Thank-You once again to:
Sachin Patel, Pawel Dubak, Jason Detloff, Anthony Zane, & Adam Dahlgren
on this PHASE TWO move-in to Abbott Hall 3rd floor! Well done! The Distance Learning group has finally moved into their designated space and is settling in.
WIEBOLDT HALL 6th floor update
Room 612 area and the office inside has been completed. We are looking at the week of November 29, 2015 move-in. Be ready, as we know you have been very patient. Here is the look of the new carpeting.
November 18, 2015 – Wieboldt Hall 6th floor update
We are told by the carpenter shop that Wieboldt Hall 6th floor EAST area (612 and the offices inside that area) will be :”complete” by the end of this week with new carpeting, new paint on the walls, new blinds, and new heating…Whew! For those who are still displaced by this long period, be ready to move into your space. We will have boxes for you to pack all your belongings and trash bins for you to use shortly. More information to come on the projected move-in date… Due to limited access into that space as workers are laying down glue for the carpeting, we risked life and limb once again to bring you these amazing photos of this monumental event unfolding…. Peace, out! (at least for now).
November 14, 2015 – Abbott Hall and LOOP update
Thank you to the hard efforts of the following staff members on Saturday November 14
Sachin Patel, Pawel Dubak, Jason Detloff, Anthony Zane, & Adam Dahlgren made this PHASE One move out of our LOOP facility very successful. Check out these photos from the weekend.
FYI: PHASE TWO move out is scheduled for Saturday November 21, 2015 – Those moving this coming weekend, be ready….

WIEBOLDT HALL (339 E. Chicago Ave.) update –
Wieboldt Hall 6th floor demo of carpeting and re-carpeting will begin on Wednesday November 11, 2015. The work should take about 7 to 8 business days. We anticipate that there will be new carpeting, fresh paint, and new blinds. Full staff move-in can begin on the week of November 22, 2015.
November 3, 2015 – Abbott Hall updates
During this week, there was a lot of activity in Abbott Hall in preparation for our first group to move-in on Monday November 16, 2015. We were limited on our access of Abbott Hall because new carpeting and flooring was being installed and we were unable to stand anywhere to take photos. NOT TO WORRY, we were able to become invisible and take a few shots just for you! (An exclusive SPS 1st LOOK! – it’s beginning to look quite cozy…)
As a REMINDER to our Colleagues at the LOOP building: see this email dated October 30, 2015 from Sachin Patel. In case you misplaced this email or did not see this email, here are the details:
All, the time is nearing for the move from 210 South Clark to Abbott Hall. As you may have seen there are plenty of boxes, totes, labels, and tape at the reception area on the 16th floor. (see photo)
Please start packing items that you will take with you to Abbott Hall. Please be sure to tag all items with your names so we know where to place the items once they arrive at Abbott Hall. This includes office chairs as well. Any items left behind after your move date will be considered trash and will be disposed of. The move dates are as follows:
Saturday November 14th – Enrollment Advising team (SPS-IT will take apart computing equipment after 2pm on Friday, November 13th).
Saturday November 21st – Distant Learning team (SPS-IT will take apart computing equipment after 2pm on Friday, November 20th)
SPS-IT will be in the LOOP for these Saturday moves along with the MOVERS and SPS-IT will reconnect your computing equipment that Monday in Abbott Hall during business hours.
October 28, 2015 – Abbott Hall updates
The walls are painted and the glue primer is put down onto the floor to be ready for carpeting and laminate flooring. There was a small snag with the carpeting as the brand we picked was discontinued by the manufacturer. No worries, we got you covered, new carpet tiles were selected. We think you will like this new carpet tile look.
The men’s toilet area has tile going up onto the walls and toilet fixtures are set to arrive onsite to be installed the week of November 1, 2015. (I really like the Purple accented walls in these photos as they “pop” in the conference rooms.)
October 23, 2015 – Abbott Hall updates
Moving along at a nice clip and we expect to move our LOOP staff into Abbott Hall 3rd floor by mid November. We are expecting two phase moves on the weekends (One on November 14-15, 2015 weekend AND the Second on November 21-22, 2015 weekend). More information will be available as to which department will move on which weekend shortly.
Boxes and moving supplies will be available at 105 W. Adams location for you to pack and tag your belongings. I encourage everyone who will be moving to pack/dispose of your smaller items now. Bring your personal belongings home now. Leave the larger and mostly used items out until the date draws closer.
On a different note: the drywall is being taped and painted as you are reading this blog. There are men on stilts doing the taping and spackle. (identities of these individuals were blocked to protect the innocent; but you can see someone on stilts in the hallway in one of these photos).
All door frames have been installed. Looks quite nice and it is beginning to take shape – we no longer see the pink insulation anymore as the walls are closed up… we now await for doors….
The final pieces remaining are (not in any particular order): painting, toilets, carpeting, telephone/data, air conditioning units, furniture, doors…
October 15, 2015 – Abbott Hall updates
The drywall is nearing completion as taping and sanding will begin on Friday and on through next week. Notice that door frames are also installed for some offices and will continue onward through next week as well. We got word yesterday at our weekly Owner-Architect-Contractor (OAC) meeting that the doors may be delayed (scheduled for week of November 15). No matter, our plan “B” is to have temporary doors if the actual finished doors are delayed. We will keep you posted.
Keep in mind this is a Hard-Hat and Eyeglass Required area. Any personnel wandering into this space can borrow a hard-hat rack hanging outside the front entrance doors. I would suggest NOT going to this space until painting, electrical wiring, and carpeting is completed. By then it would be move-in time!
October 11, 2015 – Abbott Hall updates
Drywall is going up quickly as the majority of the dry wall framing is complete. Electrical and telephone/data wiring and piping are being installed throughout this week and into next. The pink you see inside the drywall frame is the insulation fibers for fire and sound ratings required by city code. Door frames were also delivered so once dry walls are in place, the door frames will be next.
October 6, 2015 – Abbott Hall updates
It is really taking shape on the 3rd floor of Abbott Hall. Drywall is not quite in place yet as electrical wiring and piping is put into place before drywall goes up. Last week we had some preliminary drywall framing, but this week – all demolition is complete and the drywall framing is near completion. We just got confirmation and approval from the landlord of 105 W. Adams (16th Floor-LOOP) to move out the large unwanted furniture via the freight elevator so you will see some of us at the LOOP with movers.
ArchIdeas Architect (in charge of the Abbott Hall renovation) has taken an inventory list of current furniture at the LOOP and we will be removing broken and not usable items at this time perhaps in the next week or so. Stay tuned for more information as we’ll be posting updates as the information becomes available.
September 29, 2015 – Abbott Hall updates
Abbott Hall demolition is in full swing now! In case you forgot have a listen =>
The demolition AND reconstruction is happening at the same time. Drywall frames are erected in place for offices, conference rooms, and shared spaces as you are reading this blog. Remember, this is still a hardhat and glasses area – if you really need to be in this area (I don’t believe you would) you may borrow a hard hat from the stack.
I, of course, have a hardhat ready for all occasions and am trading in my Ranger-Benson disguise to a Bear Construction disguise. Don’t worry, they will never know. Watch out – it’s SPS incognito – kind of…
Here are all the drywall frames being installed. My it’s beginning to look like office space already. Projected occupancy into this space is tentatively scheduled for mid November 2015.
September 25, 2015 – Abbott Hall 3rd floor updates and Wieboldt Hall 6th floor EAST
Many things happened this week and many more upheavals still ongoing. I wanted to give a shout out to our Project Managers, Trades, and the entire SPS IT/Facilities Team that work tirelessly throughout this project to be able to hold classes on the 7th floor on Monday September 21, 2015! Thank You to you all! (More photos and activities to come on this post, so scroll down to see them all)
Abbott Hall – 3rd floor photos
Check it out! Abbott Hall 3rd floor demolition is in full swing – literary…! Even some drywall framing is happening in areas that do not require demolition.
Wieboldt Hall 7th floor update – new brass signage is installed! My it looks nice, kind of deja-vu; nevertheless, this does not take away the brilliance of it all! Here are BEFORE and AFTER photos – and for those who are asking, No, these photos were not “PhotoShopped” in anyway.
Wieboldt Hall 6th floor EAST update -New windows, heating vents are finished and installed! Next up, and yes!!! we will be getting a fresh coat of paint and NEW carpeting too! I believe Ragner-Benson have fulfilled their 12 business day promise for completion of windows and heating for these rooms below. (Phase IV: Room 610-A, 611, 612, 613 – Start September 9, 2015 for 12 business days.) Paint and Carpeting will begin next week.
Wieboldt Hall 3rd floor Lydian Lounge update– National Research Center for Osher Lifelong Learning Institutes (NRC). There will be some furniture reconfiguration and touch-up painting in preparation for Bernard Osher’s visit. No photos of this space yet, so stayed tuned.
September 21, 2015 – Wieboldt Hall 7th floor classrooms
We are ready for tonight’s classes. Crews worked all weekend to complete the furniture assembly. Final punch-lists are being done now. Take a look- these classrooms look marvelous. If you haven’t gotten a chance, go upstairs to the 7th floor to take a look – These are some sample classroom photos below.
Next up… Abbott Hall 3rd floor construction and the shutdown of our LOOP facility.
September 17, 2015 – Wieboldt Hall 7th floor furniture and more
Our tables and chairs are here! Table tops will be assembled today, tomorrow, and throughout the weekend so we will be ready for our Monday September 21, 2015 evening classes! Further, there will be janitorial staff working at this time as well doing deep cleaning throughout the weekend.
As far as our LOOP location is concerned, we will begin removing projectors, tables, chairs, and various items as we gear up for our move out of this location. We are expecting move out: DRUM ROLL………. mid-November 2015!
September 16, 2015 – Abbott Hall updates
Our first Owner-Architect-Contractor (OAC) meeting was today at 8:30am in Abbott Hall within the NU Facilities suite on the 8th floor. All “players” were introduced along with the projected scope of work. Any new updates to what needs to be done will be posted on this site so come back and check this site often. We will begin our demolition on Tuesday September 22, 2015!! – there will be jack hammers and all kinds of noise. Wow, this is really happening!! Finally….. Photos of the destruction will follow as it happens so stay tuned.
September 8, 2015 Wieboldt and Abbott Hall updates
Abbott Hall 3rd floor has selected Bear Construction Company – www.bearcc.com as the General Contractor and has begun the process of getting city permits for demolition and pre-construction documents together. in the meantime, excess furniture and all occupants have been moved out and relocated back into Wieboldt Hall 6th floor South offices.
Wieboldt Hall 7th floor dividing classroom
Check out our new dividers for our multipurpose classroom! Manufactured by a company called SKY-FOLD, there are two dividers that separate into THREE classrooms, these will go a long way to getting us the needed large conference/meeting space for our events. There are soundproof sides that inflate outward to seal off noise from the adjoining rooms that is in compliance with classroom specs for sound and noise mitigation. Here are photos & a video. (These still images simply does not give the dividers justice; you’ve gotta come see these live for the full shock-and-awe of the action.)
This is the Key-Controlled Panel for the Dividing Walls.
The photos below show what the dividing panels looked when these are in the ceiling.
This next photo shows the gap in between the panels once it is lowered; but wait! The gap disappears because there is an inflatable separator that fills in all the gaps. (You’ve got to see it to believe it….)
These videos show the dividing walls lowering and shows the panel gaps between the walls being filled in to absorb noise from either side of the walls.
Week of August 30 through September 5, 2015
- Phase II: Room 601, 603, 604 – Complete

August 20, 2015 – Wieboldt Hall updates
Faculty podiums are delivered and being installed this week along with projectors, screens, and speakers within the 7th floor classrooms. If these podiums look familiar, they should, because these are the same podiums that we had from our LOOP location classrooms.
The 7th floor Lobby floor is complete. It is a Terrazzo flooring with designs similar to the 4th and 5th floors. Here are the BEFORE and AFTER pix.
The 8th floor offices are nearing completion. Lighting needs to be adjusted in the hallways and offices as these will be programmed beginning next week August 24, 2015. Data and phone activations are still pending along with noticeable missing lobby furniture.
August 18, 2015 – Wieboldt Hall 6th & 7th floor updates

Further, three (3) general contractor bids arrived into NU Facilities for review. You may click onto each link to view the contenders for our illustrious Abbott Hall renovation. One of these three will be selected and then permits will be pulled from the City of Chicago to begin renovation (yes, demolition is first).

- Norcon, Inc. – www.norconinc.com
On a side note: Ragner-Benson is currently onsite doing our 7th and 8th floor renovation within Wieboldt Hall now. Bear Construction has worked on various projects around both campuses. Norcon has worked on the new Northwestern Law School Atrium.
August 14, 2015 – Wieboldt Hall 6th floor SOUTH update
This Monday August 17, 2015 the coffee maker, tea bags, microwaves, and refrigerator will be temporarily relocated to the 6th floor SOUTH central open area. Current location of the kitchen (604) will be getting new windows and new heating vents (along with room 601 and 603). Once vents and windows are replaced and completed, painting of these rooms will begin. (BTW, the heating vents for all of the new heating coils will be arriving into Wieboldt and installed the week of August 24, 2015. - Phase IV: Room 610-A, 611, 612, 613 – TBDin Tuesday August 18, 2015
If you are able, come check out the near completed 6th floor SOUTH – oh my, how different this looks, sounds, and feel – if you did not see the 6th floor SOUTH hallway, you may consider yourself lucky because this area, until this morning, was as cold as the Alaskan Tundra hitting you in the face with a polar vortex as you feel trapped inside the tunnel of wind and was louder than a 100 car train wreck derailing at the crack of early dawn and rolling down the side of the mountains on the PCH (Pacific Coast Highway) of California…. I jest, but it was loud and it was cold. You should take a moment to come see the space in person next week – just stop by and check out the new digs OR see the photos for now. (New paint, new carpet, new windows, new heating vents (sans vent covers)).
Week of August 1 through 10, 2015 – Wieboldt & Abbott Hall updates
Wieboldt Hall 6th floor – 98% of the south hallway is completed. Glass windows have been installed in the floating area to give it a final touch look. Carpeting, toilet room, and wall paint is completed as well. Have a look.
Phase II of the 6th floor North window replacements will begin soon. Rooms 603, 601, and yes, 604 (kitchen). Now you may be thinking, oh no – I’m not gonna have coffee – RELAX! we will have coffee as the coffee maker, microwaves, and refrigerator will be temporarily be relocated into the 6th floor SOUTH hallway area. Coffee and tea will still be served.
Next step is to move folks into the 6th floor south hallway from Abbott 3rd floor in preparation for the Abbott hall 3rd floor renovation. (The week of August 24, 2015 is tentatively projected to begin our Abbott Hall 3rd floor moves – I know that all Abbott 3rd floor occupants have been notified.)
Abbott Hall – 3rd floor – general contractor bids have come in and review is taking place within NU now. Expected demolition will begin sometime late August and/or early September 2015.
Week of July 26 through 31, 2015 – 105 W. Adams (LOOP) update along with Wieboldt & Abbott Hall updates
105 W. Adams (LOOP) – Many and perhaps All lecterns were removed from the LOOP classsrooms so these may be prepared for our move into the 7th floor Wieboldt Hall. It was necessary to reuse these lecterns to install new digital equipment so we have the best equipment in time for our GRAND opening of the newly renovated classroom space. Not to worry, in place at 105 W. Adams classrooms, there are laptops with carts that doesn’t detract from the practicality of the classrooms.
We’ve begun looking at classroom space closeby to the existing 105 W. Adams location in the LOOP. There are several viable options that we are currently exploring to make the transition easier for those working students in the LOOP location.
Wieboldt Hall – 6th floor SOUTH & NORTH update– We are complete! (Kind of… the SOUTH hallway is near completion as there will be final punchlist items (missing: vent covers, glass partitions, firestops for piping, toilet room sink, window shades – just to name a few) In the meantime, have a look at our 6th floor SOUTH space.
In the coming week(s) these will be fully completed in time for our move out of Abbott Hall 3rd floor for renovation. Bids for Abbott Hall 3rd floor space was uploaded to the city of Chicago for permits and contractor bidding on July 29, 2015.
July 23, 2015 – Wieboldt Hall roof
The latest daredevil stunt from up above to show this picture. Paint-primer is now applied onto the exterior walls with interior materials ready to be installed inside our new penthouse. Our new HVAC system will be housed along with electrical and a myriad of other important facility functions. The next step is the beige paint application onto the exterior that will look similar to the South Penthouse and the brick. Interior drywall will be also begin this week. Stay tuned.
July 22, 2015 – Abbott Hall update
Just got off the phone last evening with ArchIdeas, Inc. (our architects for our Abbott Hall 3rd floor renovation), and the bid documents are expected back by August 12, 2015. This is when all General Contractors who would like to bid on this renovation project should have all information back to ArchIdeas, Inc and NU-Facilities (NU-F) with the General’s best work timelines, schedules, sub-contractors, and pricing. NU-F and ArchIdeas, Inc will have an opportunity to review these bids and accept one of the contractors for this job. Once this happens, demolition will begin – which should be by mid to late August 2015. Those occupants in Abbott Hall should prepare for our move back into Wieboldt Hall. More details will be communicated as it becomes available. If boxes are required for this move, please contact SPS-Facilities (x3-3333) and select Option #2 OR send an email request to firstname.lastname@example.org with the following information in the email (name of person moving, current location, phone # to be moved, # of boxes needed) OR stop by room 605 to pickup the boxes impromptu.
July 21, 2015 – Wieboldt Hall updates
Ladies and Gentlemen, we have carpeting! – err kind of. This was the delivery of carpeting to Wieboldt Hall last week. All this carpeting will be installed inside Wieboldt Hall.
What a difference a weekend makes. The 6th & 7th floors of Wieboldt Hall carpeting has begun and nears completion. Have a look – it is all coming along nicely!
6th floor SOUTH
7th floor hallway and classrooms
We are expecting to get some of the 6th floor SOUTH areas back by end of day FRIDAY – July 24, 2015 – we’ll see – some lights and electrical outlets were not functioning so that was why we didn’t get the go-ahead earlier. Once that happens, we will begin the 6th floor NORTH window replacement plan scheduling. With the completion of 609 and the near completion of room 608 window replacement, we will begin phase II plan shortly. If you require boxes, please contact SPS-Facilities (x3-3333) and select Option #2 OR send an email request to email@example.com for your needs (name, current location, your phone #, # of boxes needed) OR stop by room 605. An example of how these room will look during the window replacement, take a look at room 608 & 609 during this time.
Room 609 & 608- window replacement.
(Hmmm…I wonder if this is correct…..I’m just not sure….Hmmmmm…)
Roof work is progressing along. Again, we risked life and limb to get you this grand aerial shot. Do not try this at home.
July 15, 2015 – Abbott Hall update
For those occupants who are currently in Abbott Hall 3rd floor, and those in Phase II & III of the Wieboldt Hall window replacement (those occupants in rooms 601, 603, 604, 605, 606, 607) a bit of GOOD News – Ragner Benson, (general contractor for Wieboldt Hall) says that the 6th floor south hallway will be completed by the week of July 20, 2015! So that means we will be finalizing these south hallway spaces for move-in. In the meantime, if you require boxes, please contact SPS-Facilities (x3-3333) to order boxes in preparation for the move.
ArchIdeas (architects for Abbott Hall -3rd floor) is anticipating that construction documents will be going out for bid this Thursday July 16, 2015. Three week turnaround for bid, selection and approval then finally break ground. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.

If you require boxes to move, please contact SPS Facilities @ x3-3333 and select Option#2 OR send an email request to firstname.lastname@example.org for your needs (name, current location, your phone #, # of boxes needed). Further, the 6th floor NORTH is being prepped for new windows and new heating units. The scheduled dates and rooms for the 6th floor NORTH are as follows so far:

These plans will be going out for bid. Construction should take place during the end of July/beginning of August 2015 for Abbott for an October 2015 move in from our folks at 105 W. Adams! Color schemes and finishing will be near identical to the Wieboldt Hall 8th floor color schemes to show continuity between our spaces. In the meantime, check out the Abbott Hall floor plan overview. Week of June 22 through July 4, 2015 – Wieboldt Hall updates
Some more images from the 6th, 7th, and 8th floors. Looking good folks! Walls on the 6th and 7th floors are painted. Windows on 7th floor are completed and 6th floor SOUTH windows are nearing completion. 8th floor walls will be painted soon. Some classrooms on the 7th floor have full or partial raised floor with electrical outlets. Some ceiling grids are partially installed – classroom technologies are projected to be installed once the electrical wiring is pulled to each location (this is ongoing for the next two weeks). The 6th SOUTH, 7th, and 8th floor also got the old radiators removed with new heaters to replace them – most have been installed, while some still have yet to be installed. A lot happening this week and next so stay tuned. For now, check out the photos of what we have so far.
June 20 & 21, 2015 – Saturday and Sunday Crane Lifts and Chicago Avenue Street shutdowns
Beginning at 8am on BOTH Saturday and Sunday – June 20 & 21, 2015 respectively, Chicago Avenue will be shutdown to TWO lanes for vehicular traffic. Similar to our last THREE Crane lifts on Chicago Avenue, there will be men flagging vehicles and pedestrian traffic to safe distances on streets and sidewalks. These shutdowns are necessary for the NEW Steel beams and NEW Air Handling Unit (AHU) that will be assembled on the NORTH roof of Wieboldt Hall. This new AHU will be our air conditioning and heating unit for parts of the 2nd, 3rd, 6th, 7th, & 8th floors.
Week of June 15 2015 – Classrooms and More . . .
It’s coming along. Check out these new photos of classrooms with paint on the wall – Yeah! Also, there are beginnings of the electrical outlets for the raised floors. Some raised floors are completed, some are in process.
8th floor updates –
New heaters below the windows that supplanted the old radiators are installed. The new 8th floor hallway (North facing from South hallway on 8th floor) is also taking shape – yippee, so exciting!
June 13 & 14, 2015 Saturday and Sunday Roofing work
In case you all missed it this weekend, there was a lot of roof work done in preparation for our new Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC) move onto the Wieboldt Hall roof. Chicago Avenue was shutdown and concrete trucks pumped concrete up to the roof to make a solid slab of concrete so that the new HVAC will be able to crane-lifted up here (end of June 2015). Check out the newly poured concrete! Remember, we risked life and limb to get you this magnificent aerial shot – JK, we used our unmanned drones as we were given permission from the city to fly these – JK again – We got this picture from another building… My, makes you want to take a nice long metal pipe and write your name on it – IMO, I do…
For all Closer look at the Roof, the Concrete has been poured and now covered.
Week of June 1 through June 5, 2015 – drywall of 6th, 7th, and 8th floors and more
What a far cry from May 8th blog posting here. As you can see, the SOUTH hallway of the 6th floor is taking shape. The unisex toilet room is being reconstructed. For those who remember, this was a shower room with toilets but only for men. The future toilet room in this space will be for all – as you enter and use the toilet – remember to lock the door behind you. (Note: There will not be any showers in this newly designed toilet room.)
This area will be the designated faculty/staff meeting area – staff may also use this area for work purposes if in the building and need a computer or work space.
7th & 8th floor drywall and painted rooms so far . . . .
May 27, 2015 – 7th floor partial drywall –
May 21, 2015 – 6th floor North offices – Stained Glass Removed and Preserved
In case you did not notice, the stained glass in the 6th floor North offices and conference rooms were removed. Rest assured, these will return when the new windows are installed. The removal was necessary to insert the stained glass into the new windows and preserve them and this is being done in the factory. For those who have stained-glass withdrawal, here are the pictures of these stained glass.
May 8, 2015 – 8th, 7th, and 6th floor updates for Wieboldt Hall
Our 6th floor SOUTH hallway renovation is in full swing – some of the windows are installed, while dry-wall framing, radiator demolition, and electrical are being worked on. Remember, we’ll also have a fresh coat of paint, new carpeting, and a new unisex toilet will also be installed!
The 7th and 8th floors are truly different now because we have now frames for our walls – Not to mention that the entire 7th and 8th floor have new windows installed too. There will be new men’s and women’s restrooms on the 7th floor with our new classroom space that opens up to a large gathering space! Can’t wait to see it all when completed! In the meantime, check out the latest photos of each floor.
6th floor SOUTH hallway – See what is happening on the OTHER side of the wooden door on the 6th floor. The unisex restroom is underway (photo with BLUE trashcan); the floor was raised up about One inch and the concrete had to be shaved to level that room down; hence the rugged terrain on the floor. Rest assured, this toilet room will be magnificent once it is completed…errr as magnificent as a toilet room can be of courses…
7th floor – first look at the framed walls –
The LAST photo is the BONUS photo – it is a FIRST look at the newly installed Windows and Heaters (under the windows and uncovered) for 7th and 8th floors (How exciting!)
Here are BEFORE and AFTER photos of the 8th floor Mezzannine area (where the HVAC equipment was). This area had a major steel addition with new supporting steel beams for the Wieboldt roof initiative. The majority of the mechanicals from this area was moved onto the roof so renovation for our 8th floor area was possible.
